Latest in Ford’s “Bold Moves”

In the latest part of their new Bold Moves campaign, and I’d even go so far as saying philosophy, Ford has launched the Bold Moves  website where they will be airing their own little e-reality showof sorts about their turnaround that they presently have underway. This move seems to be the latest in a trend seeing big corporations become much more open in their daily operations, or so it would seem anyway, such as General Motors’ very own Fastlane blogs.

This website, which they’ve appropriately titled Bold Moves : Documenting the Future of Ford follows the company through it’s progression all along their Way Forwardrestructuring and return to profitability plan and gives us a behind the scenes look at what’s going on, usually behind closed doors, over in Dearborn. While I’m sure there is some filtering going on as I’m sure that there are things that will happen during this time that people will not want to be seen, as they’ve admitted, it seems they are making an honest effort to giving us an opaque view of what will be going on at Ford HQ.

From the intro/prologue which first pops up when you visit the site, the mood is set that things are serious and that they are also serious about doing all of this. The first episode gets the rather grim title of Change or Die and the main focus seems to be to present Ford Motor Co., to tell you who they are, what they do and where they stand at the moment.

All in all, I think this could be very interesting and a successful PR campaign, ironically, as long as they keep it as transparent and as far from just another PR exercise as they possibly can.
